Nanwan Beach Tide Table

30-day tide table for Nanwan Beach, including today's and tomorrow's high and low tide times, heights, tidal range and wave conditions from Taiwan CWA.

How to use
  1. Pick a location — Choose a coastal spot from the dropdown above, or go straight to /tide/location-slug for that spot's own page (e.g. Gaomei Wetlands, Longdong, Jinzun).
  2. Read the tide cards — High tide and low tide times and heights are the first thing to check — they decide whether it's safe to go into the water, walk the tidal flats, or surf.
  3. Check the location-specific notes — Things like the Gaomei boardwalk's opening hours, a dive spot's slack-water window, or surf conditions only appear on that location's own page — scroll down after switching locations.
FAQ

Should I dive on a rising or falling tide?

What matters is slack water, not rising vs falling — the current is weakest around high and low tide, which is best for shore diving and snorkelling. Mid-tide has the strongest, most dangerous current. Match your entry to that day’s tide times and aim for the slack window.

How do I know the best time to get in today?

Check today’s high and low tide times on this page; the roughly 1-hour window around each turning point is slack water with the weakest current. Still confirm the day’s wind, swell, visibility and weather, and defer to your dive shop and on-site notices.

Is daytime shore scuba currently listed for Nanwan?

The current official page lists daytime snorkelling at Nanwan but omits it from the shore-scuba list. Confirm current permission and zoning directly with Kenting headquarters before planning scuba.

Slack Water & Best Times to Get In (Diving / Snorkelling)

Shore diving and snorkelling are safest — and usually clearest — at slack water: the window around high and low tide when the current turns and runs weakest. Mid-tide is when the current is strongest and least suitable for getting in.

Below are estimated slack windows of about 1 hour around each high and low tide today. Actual current, swell and visibility still depend on wind, terrain and weather.

Verified access, entry and facilities

Only official or owner-confirmed information is shown. Unverified drafts stay off the page. Check same-day notices and on-site controls before departure.

Getting there with equipment

  • The recreation-area entrance is at No. 223 Nanwan Road. Its official paid lot operates all day with 130 car, 40 scooter and 20 coach spaces; arrive with heavy gear via the managed parking route. Official source
  • Published recreation-area hours are 08:30–21:00 while parking is charged all day. For early or late equipment moves, do not interpret parking access as an open water service. Official source

Water entry and exit

  • Nanwan has roughly 600 metres of sandy shore, but an officially identified strong underwater current lies opposite the police station. Stay away from that frontage rather than choosing the most direct entry. Official source
  • The current plan lists Nanwan for daytime snorkelling within 200 metres of shore but not in its daytime shore-scuba list. Confirm scuba permission with Kenting headquarters instead of inferring it from this page name. Official source

Rinsing, parking and facilities

  • Land-side facilities include rinse/changing rooms, separate changing rooms and toilets, allowing changing and body rinsing inside the managed area. Availability remains subject to same-day notices and the operator. Official source
  • Other listed facilities include a visitor centre, clothing lockers, swim-gear sales/rental and shops. The lockers are identified for clothing; ask on site before assuming tanks or full dive kits can be stored. Official source

Rules and ecological care

  • Beach flags are live controls: when waves exceed 1–1.5 metres, a red flag prohibits swimming, snorkelling and diving. Stop at the flag; a forecast does not override it. Official source
  • Nanwan has beach patrol staff, but patrol coverage does not make all water safe. Official advice still calls for companions, approved flotation and waterproof communication, and cancelling beyond one’s ability. Official source
