Houbihu Port Tide Table

30-day tide table for Houbihu Port, including today's and tomorrow's high and low tide times, heights, tidal range and wave conditions from Taiwan CWA.

How to use
  1. Pick a location — Choose a coastal spot from the dropdown above, or go straight to /tide/location-slug for that spot's own page (e.g. Gaomei Wetlands, Longdong, Jinzun).
  2. Read the tide cards — High tide and low tide times and heights are the first thing to check — they decide whether it's safe to go into the water, walk the tidal flats, or surf.
  3. Check the location-specific notes — Things like the Gaomei boardwalk's opening hours, a dive spot's slack-water window, or surf conditions only appear on that location's own page — scroll down after switching locations.
FAQ

Should I dive on a rising or falling tide?

What matters is slack water, not rising vs falling — the current is weakest around high and low tide, which is best for shore diving and snorkelling. Mid-tide has the strongest, most dangerous current. Match your entry to that day’s tide times and aim for the slack window.

How do I know the best time to get in today?

Check today’s high and low tide times on this page; the roughly 1-hour window around each turning point is slack water with the weakest current. Still confirm the day’s wind, swell, visibility and weather, and defer to your dive shop and on-site notices.

Can I enter the water inside Houbihu Marina?

No. Swimming and diving are prohibited inside the harbor. Use a lawful shore-entry area outside the basin and channel, and follow current buoys and notices.

Slack Water & Best Times to Get In (Diving / Snorkelling)

Shore diving and snorkelling are safest — and usually clearest — at slack water: the window around high and low tide when the current turns and runs weakest. Mid-tide is when the current is strongest and least suitable for getting in.

Below are estimated slack windows of about 1 hour around each high and low tide today. Actual current, swell and visibility still depend on wind, terrain and weather.

Verified access, entry and facilities

Only official or owner-confirmed information is shown. Unverified drafts stay off the page. Check same-day notices and on-site controls before departure.

Getting there with equipment

  • The public lot is on the landward side of Houbihu Harbor. The official listing shows 113 car, 12 scooter and 24 coach spaces and currently marks it free; dive gear still has to follow the harbor-side pedestrian route. Official source
  • The old shelter beside the parking lot is no longer a bus stop. With equipment, walk about 100 metres toward Chushuikou and use the stop on the left, as directed by the park authority. Official source

Water entry and exit

  • The marina basin is not a dive entry. Harbor rules prohibit swimming and diving inside the port, so shore entries must remain outside the basin, navigation channel and vessel-working areas. Official source
  • The current Kenting plan lists the west side of the Houbihu channel for daytime shore scuba within 200 metres of shore. This does not permit crossing the channel; follow on-site buoys and control lines. Official source

Rinsing, parking and facilities

  • Official harbor facilities include a visitor centre, shops, parking, toilets, the ring road and a shore boat-storage area. Keep dive equipment clear of vessel and service-vehicle routes while gearing up. Official source
  • The published harbor facility list does not identify a fixed public gear-rinse station. If rinsing is essential, confirm an available location and same-day operation with a licensed dive operator or the harbor office. Official source

Rules and ecological care

  • Since 2 July 2026, freediving has been prohibited west of the Houbihu channel because of its proximity to vessel traffic. The shore-scuba designation must not be treated as freediving permission. Official source
  • Kenting requires non-powered activities to remain within 200 metres of shore and outside navigation channels. On-site buoys, flags or staff directions take precedence when they impose tighter controls. Official source
