Qixingtan is a steeply shelving gravel beach where long swells and rogue waves can suddenly crash ashore. At night stay away from the waterline and do not go into the water or sit in the surf zone. The beach has no lighting, so bring a headlamp and go with others. Do not go during typhoon or long-swell warnings.
